Events at Searles Castle

In 1905, the magnificent Searles Castle was commissioned by Edward Francis Searles. The castle, completed in 1915, is an authentic replica of a medieval Tudor manor nestled atop the 125-acre Searles Estate in Windham, New Hampshire. It had served as a retreat for the Sisters of Mercy and as the Castle College campus for more than 25 years.

In November of 2001, the Sisters of Mercy contracted with Searles Castle Event Management to organize and manage events held at the castle. At that time it was decided that operations would be expanded to include weddings and receptions in the castle courtyard in an effort to better utilize the facility, better serve the needs of the public, and to raise additional funds to further the charitable programs of the Sisters of Mercy. In November 2019, NHC Events became the new manager of events and continues the legacy of Special Events at the Searles Castle at Windham continuing the partnership with Simply Elegant Catering.

For more than 20 years, Simply Elegant Catering has been honored to cater the unique and special events hosted at the castle. From fairy-tale weddings to elegant anniversary receptions and themed birthday parties, the partnership between our two teams has created one-of-a-kind events. We consider the partnership we have with the team at Searles as a friendship – we have so much fun working together to bring these events to life! Between the elegant beauty of Searles Castle and the unmatched presentation of our gourmet menus, we team up to bring you an unforgettable event.

Searles is said to have employed the finest masons and woodworkers to construct the castle, and imported marble and artifacts from Europe to furnish it. Examples of the fine work are found in the carved oak balcony, and the marble fireplaces.
